Renewable Energy
With the enactment of House Bill 2 (2021), on July 1, 2021 the administration and implementation of RPS policy and the Renewable Energy Fund (REF) transferred from the Public Utilities Commission (Commission or PUC) to the Department of Energy (Department).
The Sustainable Energy Division assists the Department in implementing specific state legislative initiatives relating to renewable energy, manages the Renewable Energy Fund (REF), and administers the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) law.
