Putting Energy to Work for Everyone

The prosperity and security of New Hampshire and its citizens depend upon an affordable, innovative, reliable, and sustainable energy economy.
Chartered in 2021, the Department of Energy is New Hampshire’s newest state agency. Since that time—and in collaboration with our utility industry partners—we have worked to provide a unified structure and direction to our state’s energy landscape. We do this through future-focused policies, practical programs that benefit residents and businesses alike, principled regulation, and highly qualified personnel.
Outlining Our State’s Energy Efficiency Goals
Energy that’s too expensive directly (and negatively) impacts families and businesses across New Hampshire. That’s why our Department and our industry partners are pursuing policies that help rein in costs while still providing people with the energy they need at home and at work. Our aims include:
- Cost-effective energy policies and resources
- A secure, reliable, and resilient energy system
- “All-resource” energy strategies
- Fewer governmental barriers to innovation
- Environmental safeguards
- Economic growth
- Enhancements to our energy infrastructure
